Date: Saturday, February 08, 2020
Time: 9:15 AM – 10:15 AM
Venue: Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland OR 97232
Room: Oregon Ballroom 203
The focus of this session is on describing various learning disorders, from those that impact academic performance to those that affect us in life. The presenters will also discuss some outcome studies demonstrating cognitive and academic performance change in these areas as a result of students engaging in the Arrowsmith Program’s cognitive exercises.
Participants will be able to:
1. Describe how learning and behavior can be viewed through a cognitive lens to gain better insight into a student’s cognitive profile, leading to better student support in the classroom.
2. Describe the brain’s ability to strengthen weak cognitive functions hypothesized to underlie learning difficulties, through targeted cognitive exercises using the application of neuroplasticity.
